Imprisonment of Fiji’s Voreqe Bainimarama is akin to the jailing of Al Capone: both gangsters locked up for the wrong crimes.
Getting Bainimarama behind bars was made harder by the way he and coup predecessor Sitiveni Rabuka had re-written various Fiji constitutions and ensured they gave themselves immunity from prosecution for anything they did while seizing power.
